Professor Richard Ernst, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry Visited CACH

  Upon Director Liu Shuguang’s invitation, Professor Dr. Richard Ernst (Nobel Laureate in Chemistry in 1991, studied and served as faculty at ETH Zurich, Switzerland) visited CACH during March 21st to 22nd, 2012, and delivered presentations.

  On March 21st, Professor Richard Ernst presented his research life in the field of Chemistry and the achievements in NMR and Raman spectroscopy. The seminar was hosted by CACH and co-organized with Bruker Optics China. About 70 persons coming from National Museum of China, Forbidden City, Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology Beijing took part in the seminar. Participants and Professor Richard Ernst discussed the application of NMR and Raman in the conservation of cultural heritage.

  On March 22nd, Professor Richard Ernst gave a special lecture “The Preservation of Tibetan Painting Art” for the students of “Training Course for Mural Conservation and Restoration Technicians in Tibet” and “Training course on Conservation and Restoration of Painted Clay Sculpture”.

  Professor Richard Ernst was accompanied by Ma Qinglin during his visiting in CACH.
